Analysis of Vector-Inflation Models Using Dynamical Systems

    Get PDF
We analyze two possible vector-field models using the techniques of dynamical systems. The first model involves a U(1)-vector field and the second a triad of SU(2)-vector fields. Both models include a gauge-fixing term and a power-law potential. A dynamical system is formulated and it is found that one of the critical points, for each model, corresponds to inflation, the origin of these critical points being the respective gauge-fixing terms. The conditions for the existence of an inflationary era which lasts for at least 60 efolds are studied.Comment: LaTeX file in elsarticle style, 4 pages, 1 figure. Quantum coherence, correlated noise and Parrondo games

We discuss the effect of correlated noise on the robustness of quantum coherent phenomena. First we consider a simple, toy model to illustrate the effect of such correlations on the decoherence process. Then we show how decoherence rates can be suppressed using a Parrondo-like effect. Finally, we report the results of many-body calculations in which an experimentally-measurable quantum coherence phenomenon is significantly enhanced by non-Markovian dynamics arising from the noise source.Comment: 8 page

Creation of blenders in the conservative setting

In this work we prove that each C^r conservative diffeomorphism with a pair of hyperbolic periodic points of co-index one can be C^1-approximated by C^r conservative diffeomorphisms having a blender.Comment: 4 figures, 16 figure
